I’m full professor of Web Technologies at the Dipartimento di Elettronica Informazione e Bioingegneria, Politecnico di Milano.
My main research interests concern software engineering, and methodologies, tools for WEB application development, multimedia information retrieval and human computation.
I authored a few articles on International Journals and Conference Proceedings, and the books: “Designing Database Applications with Objects and Rules: the IDEA Methodology” (Addison-Wesley, 1997); “Designing data-Intensive web Applications” (The Morgan-Kaufmann Series in Data Management Systems, Jim Gray, Series Editor, December 2002), “Web Information Retrieval” (Springer, Data-Centric Systems and Applications Series, July 2013).
I’m co-inventor of WebML (http://www.webml.org) a model for the conceptual design of Web applications (US Patent 6,591,271, July 2003) and co-founder of WebRatio (http://www.webratio.com), a start-up focused on the commercialization of an innovative tool suite for the Model-Driven Development of Web and BPM applications.
With Marco Brambilla, I contributed to the Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML) OMG standard (IFML.org).
I served as Program Chair of the International Conference on Web Engineering in 2004, Vice President of the Software Engineering Track of the WWW conference in 2005, General Chair of the International Conference on Web Engineering in 2007 and Area Chair of the WWW Conference in 2010.
That’s it, more or less..
